Almaty will host a grand celebration of City Day over the weekend of September 18-20, with more than 300 events across the city. The main program will take place at Astana and Abaya squares, along Panfilova and Zhybek Zholy streets, and at the Alatau Traditional Arts Theatre. Expect concerts featuring Kazakhstani artists including Ratovich, circus performers, and various ensembles, the Kitap Fest book festival, traditional games, and sporting competitions. Throughout September 18-20, the Alma-Fest Circus traveling show will also perform in its signature tent-marquee. The festivities will reach all districts of the city with celebrations in various formats.
