Shymbulak ski resort sits at 2,260 m elevation and is accessible via several lift sections through Medeu. For the most atmospheric autumn ascent, add the open ККД-4 chairlift, designed for four passengers (currently operating as pairs). It offers panoramic views of snow-capped Zailiyskiy Alatau peaks, forested slopes and autumn canyon scenery. The summer season runs until 18 October, after which the cable cars close for maintenance. Mountain temperatures are 10–12°C lower than in the city, so warm clothing is essential.
