Charyn Canyon stretches for 154 km with cliff walls reaching 150–300 metres high, but the most popular section is the Valley of Castles—approximately 3 km long, where rock formations resemble fairytale castles and towers. These formations were created by water eroding clay layers in the bedrock, resulting in a unique landscape. The canyon itself is a natural wonder dating back some 12 million years, where you can discover impressions of ancient plants.
