An excursion tour to the Aktau and Katutau mountains in Altyn-Emel National Park, located 250-300 km from Almaty. Aktau mountains are unique multicoloured chalk cliffs that formed on the bed of an ancient ocean, featuring distinctive white, red and blue layers that create a Martian-like landscape. Katutau mountains are ancient volcanic formations dating back approximately 250 million years, the result of intense volcanic activity, with striking shapes of solidified lava flows.
