The production tells the story of the life of the great Kazakh scientist, traveller and ethnographer Shokan Ualikhanov. It is not simply a historical account, but a philosophical drama exploring eternal questions of existence, the struggle between the pursuit of knowledge and the inevitability of death, between memory and oblivion. Shokan emerges as a bridge between the nomadic and European worlds, experiencing his duality, loneliness and tremendous responsibility to future generations.
