Koyandi Reservoir

Location: Outside the city, approximately 35 km from Astana, on the Koyandi River.

A simple option for a day trip: swim during hot weather, take a walk along the shore, and fish near the dam. It's nothing comparable in scale or spectacle to the Kolsay Lakes near Almaty—rather, it's a nearby weekend getaway spot where visitors come without much baggage.

History

The reservoir is located on the Koyandi River; carp, pike, and perch are caught at the dam. Fish stocks are maintained artificially—the reservoir is regularly stocked with young pelad and whitefish.
