Metro RC Karting

About this place: An indoor two-level karting track—the only one of its kind in the CIS countries.

The track is situated in Bostandyk District on Zhandosova Street, 2B—right within the city limits, so no need to drive outside town. Two racing tracks are stacked one above the other inside the Metro entertainment center and operate every day until late, regardless of weather or season. Sessions run for 4, 8, 12, or 16 minutes—you can drop by for a quick lap or spend an entire evening racing with friends. The minimum height requirement to drive is approximately 150 cm, and visitors under 18 must be accompanied by a parent. Advance booking is not necessary; for a family outing or group of friends, simply show up.

History

The exact opening date of the Metro karting facility has never been publicly announced. However, its place among post-Soviet karting venues is well documented: it is the largest indoor kart track in the CIS and the only two-level indoor track in the region. Fitting two full-fledged circular tracks one above the other inside a building is a rare and expensive engineering solution. Even karting as a sport typically operates on a single level. The karts on the track are produced by the German Schumacher Center.

Two levels are not simply two laps in a row. The tracks are connected by ramps and turns at different heights, making the race more dynamic than on a flat kart track: blind corners, elevation changes, and the sensation of driving on a mini-overpass rather than just going around a loop. The track itself becomes part of the experience, not just the race against the clock.

Karting is only part of the Metro RC: nearby you'll find bowling with eight lanes, billiards, and karaoke. A race session can easily extend into a full evening—transition from racing to bowling or vice versa. The "indoor karting open late within the city" format is rare even by the standards of major cities, where karting is typically located outside city limits and operates seasonally.
